International Optoelectronics Association Meeting

The 16th annual IOA (International Optoelectronics Association) meeting took place on September 16-17, 2011 in Taipei, Taiwan. The meeting was held in conjunction with the European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication (ECOC 2011) and hosted most graciously by SLN (Swiss Photonics and Laser Network).

A representative from each IOA member organization gave a presentation summarizing industry trends within their geographic area.

OIDA/CIAN Optical Communication Networks Workshop

OIDA/CIAN Optical Communication Workshop: Future Directions &
Metrics in Aggregation Networks held October 18-19, 2011 in San Jose, CA

Twelve invited speakers, four moderators/presiders, and four facilitators came together with over 90 attendees in this highly participatory workshop toward the establishment of a roadmap for intelligent optical aggretation networks. Conclusions and recommendations for future research will be summarized in a future roadmap report.

NSF Poster Session Winners announced

The OIDA/CIAN workshop also featured a poster session highly the work of our future industry leaders.  This session, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), featured 10 outstanding posters.
